“Snapper Challenge” Tournament 2018

 

Join us for a family friendly experience finding out who will be crowned the Tampa Bay area’s KINGS of SNAPPER fishing.

At the weigh in and awards Sunday, July 1 from 11am-4pm, there will be live GIVEAWAYS as well as a food truck and grill, music, industry personalities and a chance to see some of the hottest new gear from our tournament sponsors and partners. Not to mention some HUGE SNAPPER!

Also a free SNAPPER FISHING WORKSHOP!

Format and Rules:
Entry: $50 per team of 4

This will be a Mangrove Snapper Tournament judged by total weight. (This is a hook and line event) If the fish appear to have a spear hole the fish will be disqualified from entry. All fish weighted in become property of Tampa Offshore Fishing. All fish weighed will be donated to a local charity, Please do your best to preserve them on ice.

Captain’s Meeting on Thursday June 28 at 6pm at T.A. Mahoney’s in Tampa. One team member must be present to receive token.

First 20 teams present will receive one bucket of gear and goodies!

Lines in the water:

Friday morning 6/29 at 12:00am

Lines out of the water:

Sunday morning 7/1 at 12:00am

(48 hours of fishing time!)

Contestants will weigh in 5 total Mangrove Snapper per team.

There is also a tournament within the tournament for Biggest Red Snapper. Largest single Red Snapper by weight wins!

Token and Photo

A token will be available for pick up before the tournament at T.A. Mahoney and Co. in Hillsborough county. as well as O’Neils Marina in Pinellas County. Should you be unable to travel in certain circumstances a token may be emailed for you to print upon request and verification. Each fish entered must be photographed on a ruler with the official token present. Failure to do so will disqualify that fish. This prevents cheating. With 48 hours to fish we do not anticipate this to be an issue.

Payout:

100 PERCENT PAYOUT.

1st, 2nd and 3rd will receive a percentage (70/20/10) of the entry fees.

The awards and weight in start at 11:00am Sunday July 1 at 11:00am at T.A. Mahoney and Co. in Tampa.

MUST be in line to weigh in by 12:00 noon on 7/1 or your fish will be disqualified.

    Entry Fee: $75 per angler
    Vessels that can be used: Kayak, Paddle Board, Canoe or any man-powered vessel. No motors on any vessel. Only one (1) person per vessel.
    How to win Redfish & Trout Combined Category: The tournament is going to be a point system based on biggest redfish (photo, 1 inch = 1 point) and heaviest combined weight (1 pound = 2 points) of 2 trout, both trout must be above 15” and under 19”. If the trout length exceeds or touches the 19" line it will be disqualified.
    Example: If you catch a 30.5" Redfish and properly document it via a photo/video on an approved tournament measuring device, that's 30.5 points. If you catch two (2) trout, one (1) being 2lbs and the other being 3lbs, that's a total of 5 pounds which equals 10 points (2 points per pound). Add redfish points with trout points for a total of 40.5 points, and that's how the winner will be determined. Please see below another example;
    25.75” Redfish = 25.75 points
    4.9 pounds combined weight of 2 trout = 9.12 points
    25.75 + 9.12= 34.87 total points
    Tie breaker will be determined by the angler that weighed in first.

    Join us for the 2023 Fish Like MADD Inshore Fishing Tournament! This event will take place on December 2nd, 2023, where we'll be targeting Snook, Redfish, and Seatrout in a catch and release tournament. To ensure fairness, all fish must be measured on the official tournament fish ruler and photos uploaded on iAngler.
    Before the tournament, we have a Captains Meeting planned on December 1st, 2023, at Moss Marina on Fort Myers Beach from 4 PM to 8 PM. This meeting is mandatory for all anglers, as the tournament director will provide an overview of the event and rules from 6 PM to 7PM. There will also be a Q & A session to address any questions you may have.
    On December 2nd, 2023, the Fish Like MADD Inshore Tournament will commence from 7 am to 4 pm in Lee County Waters. You'll have the perfect opportunity to showcase your fishing skills, compete with other anglers, and support Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
    After the tournament, join us for the Awards Ceremony from 4 PM to 8 PM at Moss Marina on Fort Myers Beach. We will announce the winners once all teams are accounted for.

    I apologize for the time this has taken to make our final decision.After looking at the past years of our beloved Casting for Cats Womens fishing tournament our number of lady anglers has dropped each year, in order to keep up with our ever changing time Casting for Cats will be changing it’s format. Now we will include women anglers fishing with there Captain or there husband to become a team event We will still have a Grand Champion female angler but we will also have other division . We are hoping this change will bring in more anglers male and female to cover the cost we all incurred by having tournaments. With this new change we now will be challenged with a new set of rules to make it fun and fair for all. We feel we need to ”Paws” to make these changes . We have just booked the Islander Resort for Oct.17 and 18 2024 . Thank you for so many years of your support we greatly hope this change will keep this tournament here for many years to come.
