Coastal Conservation Association Florida / Ocean Aid Ghost Trap Rodeo Jacksonville 2022
Join Ocean Aid 360 and #CCAFlorida on Sunday, January 16 in Jacksonville from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the next Ghost Trap Rodeo! The GTR’s are just like your favorite inshore fishing tournaments, but instead of reds and trout, we’re weighing in derelict fishing gear, plastics and marine debris for the chance to win more than $25,000 in prizes!
This free event will be held at Whitey’s Fish Camp, 2032 County Road 220, Fleming Island, FL 32003 and boaters, paddlers and beachcombers are welcomed! This event will take place during the bi-annual crab trap fishery closure, and will target plastics and derelict traps (which are abandoned but continue to “ghost fish” unattended and deplete essential marine resources in the St. Johns River).
The Ghost Trap Rodeo Event Series, funded by NOAA, is a family-friendly event dedicated to improving and maintaining the health of Florida’s sensitive marine environments for the longevity of our shallow water fishery. Registration is FREE and fun for the whole family. By participating, you can enjoy a complimentary lunch and receive a swag bag too! To sign up TODAY
