I’ve always wanted to do this. There will be a brief introduction and then it’s the class members turn. I’ll open it up to questions about all kinds of local fishing; saltwater, freshwater, from boats, kayaks or on foot. All are in the game. Discussion will follow and then another question. This is your chance to pick my brain.

This class is geared toward the equipment used for fishing. I’m talking about rods, reels, pliers, de-hookers, grips, tackle bags, line cutters, etc, etc. There are a lot of new “toys” on the market and I’m going to do my best to cover it all. There will be a focus on how to use some of these items as well.

Back by popular demand! We’ll start with the basics of fly fishing and then work our way up to what’s needed to be successful. Rods, reels, line and flies are on the list, as well as fly casting and how to get started in tying your own flies for our local waters. If you’ve been entertaining the idea of taking that next step in angling, you don’t want to miss this class.

Come join us at our next seminar. Inshore Basics with Capt Jay Withers of Silver Lining Charters on Jan 24th at 6pm at Big Boys Bait & Tackle, 1242 SW Pine Island Rd.

Although many of his clients are very experienced fishermen and charter him to catch trophy sized fish, he has vast experience with novice anglers also. In this seminar he will take time to teach basic techniques that make fishing more successful and exciting. The tips you will learn will enable you to be more successful for years to come.
The Cape Coral Yacht Club is pleased to host the 22nd Annual “Kid’s All American Fishing Derby” on Saturday, January 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Open to children ages 5-15 at a cost of $8 per child, this year’s fishing derby will include angler education, bait, one hour of fishing time, awards, and continental breakfast for participants. In addition, each participant will receive a complimentary rod and reel compliments of Fish Florida!
Please note: Parents are asked to help their children put together their new fishing rods. Instructions and a demonstration for assembling the fishing rods will be given that morning.
Additional breakfasts for parents or siblings can be purchased for $3 each.
Space is extremely limited, so advanced registration is required and will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
